Overview
The venue Marshall Mountain was a good setting for an all night camp out crazy ho down. The heated circus tents held up and actually heated quite nicely. Sorry to the Hat Trick stage musicians who raged through some cold moments when the propane bottles froze up and cut off some heat for a bit. Propane is like so fucking cold it can instantly burn you so I wasnt prepared to have a bottle freeze. I thought putting the bottle in the tent was less desirable but in hindsight putting the bottle in the warmth would of solved the problem.
The artists hardly complained and played through all adversity like the true champs they all are. The weather was the kind that even skiers avoid at night anyway. The temp ranged from -5 to 5 above zero even a true Packers fan would be proud of this crowd. Everyone I talked to all agree it was the coldest most ambitious Barnburner. These words came long after they told many other tales and events they enjoyed ie I heard the free KBGA Red Bull bus was crazy packed smoking drinking singing loud stumbling home at dawn good time. And look the fuck out here comes a pumpkin rolling down the hill at ya, not just pumpkins but Montana Fresh and Local frozen hard as rock torpedo pumpkins. The night was full of firsts and people sliding, falling chucking themselves down the parking lot bank was just one humorous scene. No serious injuries to report. The visit from the EMS and Fire Dept was un founded and not used.
Thanks to all those who work day in and day out to keep people safe. You come when your called even when you are not needed you all rock. Thanks to the 78 total artists that were enjoyed by all. The number is correct from web design, graphic design, fire dancers, musicians, videographers, photographers, decorators, Djs and more it was all at the swirling freezer jam of 2003 we all love and call The BarnBurner.
Yes 525 total tix sales 68 guests and 38 crew and volunteers. Thanks goes out to Hi-Tech audio for providing great sound in such adverse conditions, and to JV security for providing seven liscensed men from 7pm till 5am to make sure everything ran smoothly. As far as the bar they took their chunk and havent been heard from. It might be seven more years before we come around to a Friday night or we go outside the way we did but rest assured The Barnburner crew is thawing out and regaining composure to bring it even harder for 2004……Any stories or reviews you would like posted send to our email and we would love to put um up.
